Last month I was in a Twitter space and heard a young founder with a VC background talk about how she wants to impact entrepreneurs through WEB3.0. This immediately intrigued me because the vision she shared was just beyond launching a collection, it was about empowering and funding a community that receives less than 2% of VC funding! – Meet Maddy Bergen, CEO + Co-founder of Angel Alliance
Today, I want to bring to you the vision of this brilliant founder, the message behind her NFT collection, and yes, a way for you all to join their discord and be able to join the movement! Click here.
Arjita: Hey Maddy! I am impressed and inspired by everything you do at Angel Alliance. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself to our readers?
Maddy: My name is Maddy Bergen, I’m the CEO and Co-Founder of Angel Alliance! I am currently living in London, but my family is originally from an island off of Greece! I started my first business at 18 years old – it was a personal training business. At the time I began, I was entirely new to the world of entrepreneurship. I’m very thankful to be able to say that I did reach quite a successful level with it but without guidance or resources, it was truly a learning process. Following the launch of my fitness business, I began working as a VC Analyst and in a Start-Up Incubator. Currently, my days are filled with doing all that I can to ensure that Angel Alliance reaches as many female entrepreneurs around the world as possible - so that we can truly make a difference.
Arjita: You started working as a VC analyst. What made you start Angel Alliance and come to the other side of the table?
Maddy: Once I began working as a VC Analyst and in the Start-Up Incubator, I really began to experience the opposing side of entrepreneurship. I’ve interviewed countless founders and very, very rarely did I interview women. It was then that I began to understand just how big the gap is between male and female entrepreneurs’ ability to successfully obtain funding from investors. I quickly decided that I wanted to try to make a difference and help the countless women in the world that want to turn their passions into their careers through their start-ups. What better way to do that than to provide women from all walks of life with education, empowerment, and funding? Once that thought came to mind, I knew that Angel Alliance was the answer.
Arjita: What are the community values at Angel Alliance that sets them apart?
Maddy: At Angel Alliance, our community embodies four core values: Collaboration, Education, Resilience, and Integrity.
Collaboration
We want to build a community that thrive together through collaboration, so whether that be by offering advice, finding a co-founder, or meeting your mentor, there will always be someone to connect with. Angel Alliance will bring together men and women of all backgrounds, ages, wealth, or races and encourage them to work together to build a better future.
Educating
At Angel Alliance, we believe in continual growth, so whether that be in a personal or business sense, there is always something new to learn! Our vision is to raise awareness around the gender inequality that exists in the current funding ecosystem and make a difference by teaching our community how to raise funding and scale, despite the odds being against them.
Resilience
Choosing the entrepreneurship route will throw a lot of hurdles your way and test your limits, and at Angel Alliance, we understand this and will be providing all the support we can to help our community to get back up. The community will be built on trust and honesty, which means you can always share your struggles, and there will always be someone there to support you.
Integrity
Integrity means doing the right thing by our community, which is why our AngelDAO will drive key decisions forward and support us in making them with integrity. Our community is at the centre of everything we do, and we will always be transparent and honest with them to make the right decisions as a brand and as investors.
Arjita: Those are literally the Founder DNA that I talk about at New Founder School! So I know a lot of readers would love to join Angel Alliance, knowing the WHY behind it. But tell us, who is this community right for?
Maddy: Angel Alliance is perfect for any aspiring entrepreneur! Our community members will have access to exclusive networking events, educational workshops, a like-minded and supportive community, business grant opportunities, regular business advice and guidance, and both IRL and virtual events. Female entrepreneurs across the globe, both in Web3 and outside of it, will have the opportunity to pitch their start-up to our DAO. Our community will get to vote on whether or not the start-up will receive a grant directly from Angel Alliance, meaning that anybody who wishes to help make a difference in the lives of female entrepreneurs, belongs in our community. To ensure that as many people can obtain funding as possible, we’ll be actively connecting our entrepreneurial members with active investors, too!
Arjita: Now, let’s get to the real fun part! When, how, and what are the next steps for mint?
Maddy: Our pre-sale will be going live on March 26th! We are working diligently to onboard as many people as we can into Web3.0 between now and then, while spreading awareness of the resources we have to offer! Join the discord channel here to get started.
We’re publishing articles, holding Twitter Spaces, recording podcasts, uploading training videos to YouTube, building discord channels, and collaborating with some absolutely incredible individuals to ensure that we can reach as many people as possible. We’ve also partnered with Web2.0 companies and VC’s!
Arjita: But minting isn’t the only step right? What happens after the mint?
Maddy: After mint is when all the exciting stuff happens and gets put into action! Our ultimate mission at Angel Alliance is to become a global brand that pioneers to bring more underrepresented backgrounds into entrepreneurship through creating initiatives and supporting aspiring entrepreneurs.
On the day of mint, our Decentralised Autonomous Organisation (DAO) will be created and the Angel council will be selected and formed by the most active community members, allowing us to build a solid foundation.
To celebrate our launch, we will be hosting an online summit consisting of a day filled with educational and networking sessions hosted by investors and entrepreneurs on the 2nd of April. This event will be a sneak peek at what is to come in the future, and it’s just the beginning!
Angel Alliance will be at the forefront of collaborating with brands and VCs to bring more people into Web3. Our brand position will help us establish a platform to raise awareness about the struggles female entrepreneurs face.
The AngelDAO will fund at least 8 start-ups in the first year with up to $15,000 grants, as well as providing them with the resources they need to succeed.
Angel Alliance will become so much more than just an NFT collection - we will become a community that work together to create change and start to close the female funding gap!
Thanks, Maddy for sharing your vision with us! I am so excited for the launch and for all of the readers, here is the Angel Alliance discord invite. Join the movement!
